Olympus xz 1 dpreview11/11/2023 The lens on the XZ1 was phenomenal across the board also. The CCD sensor in those generations of camera produced some wonderful colors and output, given their limitations compared to modern-day enthusiast compacts. The xz1 is still one of my all-time favorite cameras to use. Keep in mind the ratings are for like camera categories, and likely (although not stated) for a specific time period. Since it has nothing to do with HD quality of any kind The H & D letters on the body of XZ-1 stands for Harley Davidson. Oh and about the main thing, I love Olympus color but video is horrible. Seems like having 2011 tech of cam is equal to 2020 phones. It is also surprising as well as fascinating that Sony Xperia 1 mark II has managed to put 1/1.7" sensor to a cellphone with F 1.7 zeiss lens! The TG-6 is fighting against smartphones and 1" nowadays and is managing to still hold its own and sell. These paper comparisons hide a lot of things and do not forget the reviews are relative to similar equipment at the time and the bar raises continuously. Many reviews were unimpressed by the video performance also. Good stills camera but as I like to occasionally use video I sold it fairly quickly. Olympus have got their act together here so the TG-6 and the XZ-2 for that matter were a great improvement. The video was the worst by far I have ever experienced on any camera and I have had a few. That video score for the XZ-1 seems a bit fanciful. I love the fact, that zooming acrion happens in a water proof chamber in TG-6, still, by thw year 2020, that cam has smilar specs (optic&sensir size combo) of XZ-1. Two-three weeks a year I am keep torturing myself by owning a Panasonic GM1 camera Its a great microfourthirds cam.Well folks, according to DPReview, Olympus XZ-1 smilar if not better specs than 9 years younger TG-6. Nowadays I am using XZ-1 for only underwater photography. Also I got good photo-mates around the globe thanks to dpr-olympus forum. It has improved my photography dramatically. Enjoy your XZ-1 as I always Will,īack in Autumn 2011 Olympus XZ-1 saved my psychological health! I gave my old cam (Bough back in 2008/ Sony Cybershot dsc-w150) to my dear brother in 2010, and it ruined my life! I was searching for the "right" camera.įinally I found XZ-1. Enjoy your XZ-1 as I always wrote:Īnyway. I always decide its Casio sibling (same as Stylus 1 without evf), but not available in Finland.Īnyway. Such sensor, such Tele at F 2.8 is bargain. Stylus 1 is a fantastic for its price I think. I bored to kiss the grass for outdoor musroom/flower close ups. Only real advantage on XZ-2 is multiangle screen. Joke aside XZ-2 feels physically "This must be the first model!" Because "size vs sensor" fits to sometime pre-2010. Man, such troubles you came from! It reminds me the lives in a soap opera "The Bold and Beautiful" stuff here Stylus 1 was better but as I already have Canon sx50 for birding, Stylus 1 range was limiting.Īnd XZ-1 gave me the colours that I always loved. Then I decided to sell both Xz2 and stylus 1 to purchase xz1! I was little scared as As there was no stock of xz1,but luckily i found one on local used items website in $120 with 4 extra batteries, mini tripod, camera case, extra car charger and I immediately purchased it.Īfter using XZ1 in RAW mode first time, I was assured that XZ1 is my best choice and i made no mistake in selling xz2 and stylus 1. Image quality was similar to xz2, but colour tone was not alike xz-1. Simultaneously i purchased Stylus 1 which is superior than both XZ2 and XZ1 in terms of build quality, and features. XZ-2 was better built and less noisy than XZ1 but again I was not emotionally attached to xz2 for some reasons.XZ2 was little heavy, larger than xz1 and not matching colours as of xz1.I was missing my xz1 once again. So i again I purchased xz1 as a backup camera for RX100.Īfter few months, I thought of XZ-2 and I sold XZ-1 before I could purchase Xz-2. XZ1 was my first non canikon camera and i purchased it only because f1.8-2.5 lens and i was amazed by its picture quality.I sold it and purchased sony Rx100 which is a very good camera in terms of image quality at low light. But then i was not pleased with its colour reproduction. There is something special about this camera that I want it to be with me always.
